What stays on your machine

Everything in your OpenIT vault lives locally — tickets, knowledge base articles, people, agents, skills, scripts, and conversation history. Nothing leaves your Mac unless you explicitly share it or connect a third-party integration (like Slack).

What goes to Anthropic

OpenIT uses Claude Code as its substrate. Prompts and the surrounding context that Claude Code chooses to include are sent to Anthropic per Anthropic's terms of service. OpenIT does not add additional telemetry on top of Claude's.

What goes to Slack

If you connect Slack via the /connect-slack skill, OpenIT runs a local bot using Slack's Socket Mode. Messages between employees and the bot flow through Slack's servers per Slack's terms. The bot token and app token are stored in your macOS Keychain — they never leave your machine except to authenticate with Slack.

CLI tools and MCP servers

When Claude runs CLI tools (gh, aws, etc.) or MCP servers you've installed, those tools communicate with their respective services using your existing credentials. OpenIT doesn't intercept or log this traffic.

Crash + error telemetry

None. If we add it, we'll update this page first.
