What stays on your machine
Everything in your OpenIT vault lives in files you own: tasks, knowledge articles, reports, commands, files, people, agents, scripts, and conversation history. Nothing leaves your Mac unless you explicitly share it, put the vault in a synced folder, or connect a third-party integration.
What goes to Anthropic
OpenIT uses Claude Code as its substrate. Prompts and the surrounding context that Claude Code chooses to include are sent to Anthropic per Anthropic's terms of service. OpenIT does not add additional telemetry on top of Claude's.
Sharing a vault with your team
OpenIT is built for small teams to share one vault. If you put the vault in a synced folder like Google Drive, Dropbox, or git, its contents sync through that service per its terms, and everyone you share the folder with can read and edit those files. OpenIT itself adds no server in between; the sync is whatever tool you already use.
CLI tools and MCP servers
When Claude runs CLI tools (gh, aws, etc.) or
MCP servers you've installed, those tools communicate with their
respective services using your existing credentials. OpenIT doesn't
intercept or log this traffic.
Crash + error telemetry
None. If we add it, we'll update this page first.
